FMCSA Training and Certification

To maintain your certification as a Medical Examiner listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners, examiners are required to participate in periodic training offered by FMCSA no sooner than 4 years and no later than 5 years after the date of their certification by FMCSA. The periodic training is now available through your National Registry account and must be completed by no later than December 31, 2022 by any and all examiners whose certification date meets or exceeds this timelineFrom the National Registry account periodic training screen, follow the instructions to download, complete, and certify that you have completed the periodic training.
Also, As a DOT Certified Medical Examiner, your NRCME certification is valid for 10 years. In order to maintain your ability to perform DOT exams, you are required to complete an accredited training course and pass the NRCME certification exam before your certification lapses. You can complete the recertification starting at 9 years following your initial certification. Examiners who were certified in 2013 can now pursue recertification.
